Cebu Pacific News ArchiveCebu Pacific Opens Clark - Cebu ServiceCebu Pacific Air begins its operations in the North by linking two cities, Clark and Cebu, effective October 26, 2001. This thrice-a-week frequency aims to provide approximately 16 million passengers in the four regions of the North with a safe, efficient, on-time and fun mode of air transportation to the other side of the country. During the recent ceremonies, which renamed Clark International Airport to Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA), President Gloria Macapagal - Arroyo has expressed appreciation to JG Summit President James Go for the airline's decision to service Clark . "I would like to thank Mr. Go for launching a Clark-Cebu-Clark thrice-a-week flight operations," said President Arroyo. In a recent marketing and planning workshop held at Fontana Leisure Parks in Clark , Cebu Pacific VP for Marketing Manolo San Juan announced that the decision to fly this route is backed up by statistics on the travel patterns of domestic travelers. San Juan likewise said that the possibility of increasing the Clark-Cebu frequency to daily flights is high, dependent on the response of the market. Cebu Pacific, local government officials and the local travel and trade industry are quite optimistic about the outcome of this new service. All sectors are working together for the success of this new tourism development. Department of Tourism Region III Director Ronaldo Tiotuico is presently seeking commitments from the local travel community to intensify the marketing campaign being waged around the Northern regions. For his part, Bienvenido Manga, GM of DMIA, has given assurance that airport facilities will be ready for the start-up of this flight. Transportation and accommodation services, as well as shops, will be available to passengers in time for the launch. The North Philippines Tourism Council, composed of key tourism players within the areas of Central Luzon, Ilocos, Cagayan Valley and Cordillera, has also made several preparations to boost this service. Council Chairman Ramon Lopez Ty said that these preparations include the arrangement of tour packages ranging from sightseeing, educational and historical tours, to volcano trekking, white water rafting and other activities for adventurous travelers. |
