Cebu Pacific Postpones Fare Increase

Cebu Pacific has announced its decision to hold back its fare increase on domestic services until April 1. This hike, approved by the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) last year, was already deferred in December 2001 to favor Christmas travelers.

In a statement, Cebu Pacific said that the implementation of the new rates, supposed to have taken effect today (March 22), was deferred to ease the burden of those traveling during long break of the Holy Week. Moreover, this deferment was done to accede to the request of Department of Transportation and Communication Secretary Pantaleon Alvarez.

Though the fare hike is meant to cover the increase in cost in almost every aspect of its operations, the carrier wishes to lighten the ordeal of the traveling public even if it means absorbing these said cost increases.

In addition, Cebu Pacific undertook this action in the hopes of encouraging more people to travel during the Lenten break.
