CEB OPENS MANILA- XIAMEN SERVICE
Cebu Pacific (CEB) is adding another route to its international flights to meet the growing demand of regional travelers: twice-weekly flights between Manila and Xiamen, China, beginning May 21, 2004.
Manila – Xiamen flights are scheduled every Friday and Tuesday, departing Manila at 11:50 a.m. and Xiamen at 3:10 p.m.
Dubbed as “ China’s coziest city”, Xiamen’s attractiveness is comparable to Hawaii. Located on the southeastern cost of China and to the west of Taiwan Strait, the city was designated as a special economic zone in 1980.
According to local tourism officials, Xiamen’s tourist arrivals jumped from 5.15 million in 1996 to 9.05 million in 2001. In 2002, Xiamen received a record high of 10 million overseas and domestic tourists.
“Xiamen is emerging as a cosmopolitan city while retaining the charm of old China,” said CEB general manager Bong Mojica. “We expect a mix of business traffic and tourist travelers. Although majority of them are on business travel, we are also expecting a potential surge of the leisure group as Xiamen is inching its way up the vacationer’s list.”
CEB, a unit of JG Summit Holdings, Inc., flies from two hubs: Manila and Cebu servicing 14 domestic destinations. It flies also to Hong Kong, Seoul and Canton. CEB is known for on-time service, setting a standard in the local industry for punctuality that is at par with global standards.
