Cebu Pacific Manila-Niigata service sold out in 2 days
A maiden Cebu Pacific charter flight to Niigata, Japan last month was sold out in two days as a result of strong market demand and a resurgence in tourist interest in the Philippines.
The airline mounted market-probing flights between Manila and Niigata last August 13 and 16 preparatory to actual operations via charters and cooperative arrangements.
Air talks between the two countries are also set for September 15 and Cebu Pacific is looking at getting entitlements for unused flight frequencies to Japan, Bong Mojica, Cebu Pacific general manager, said.
He said Japanese tourists are coming back in droves. “Our Niigata charter flights were 100% on time. This plus the competitive fares, Cebu Pacific is giving its passengers the service they deserve,” he said.
Additional flights to Japan will benefit overseas Filipino workers and significantly help perk the tourism market up and encourage business travel, he said. “That means more foreign exchange earnings for the country, more businesses, higher occupancy hotel rates, and more jobs that are mostly in the countryside,” he said.
Cebu Pacific recently announced its acquisition of 12 brand-new Airbus 319 aircraft and two A320s for domestic and regional service. It flies from two hubs: Manila and Cebu.
