Cebu Pacific flies Manila-Bangkok for only P1999

Cebu Pacific (CEB), the Philippines’ no. 1 domestic airline will start flying a direct service from Manila to Bangkok, Thailand starting December 14, 2006, with a special introductory fare of only P1,999 one-way. The Manila-Bangkok seat sale will run from October 18 to 25 only.

The Manila-Bangkok service will be operated using CEB’s brand new Airbus aircraft and is scheduled to operate every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The flight departs from Manila at 10:45pm and arrives in Bangkok at 12:50am the following day. The flight then leaves Bangkok at 1:35am to arrive back in Manila at 5:30am.

CEB launches its Manila-Bangkok service with a seat sale fare of only P1,999 one-way, a price reduction of almost 77% from the lowest regular fares out of Manila. The promo is exclusive of surcharges and government tax. The sale runs from October 18 to 25 and is good for travel from December 14, 2006 to January 31, 2007. The best way to catch the promo is through CEB’s website (cebupacificair.com).

Bangkok is the capital of Thailand and is also the country’s spiritual, cultural, economic and educational hub. It is one of the fastest-growing, economically dynamic cities in Southeast Asia. The city is also one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations and is known as one of the “shopping meccas” of Asia.

CEB will be operating from the new Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok’s new international airport. The new airport started operations last September 28, 2006 and is currently the largest airport in the world. It also has the world’s longest runway and the world’s tallest control tower.

Lance Gokongwei, CEB’s President and CEO, said that the Manila-Bangkok service is the third international destination opened by the airline this year as part of its regional expansion program. “The response to our entry to these new regional markets has been very encouraging. We’re creating a lot of excitement in the travel industry and getting a lot of requests to open more markets. With the opening of our service to Bangkok, we hope to further stimulate travel for both the business and leisure sectors to the benefit of both countries.” said Gokongwei.

After the seat sale regular ‘Go’ fares to Bangkok start at P2,999 one-way. Still almost 65% less than the current lowest fare to Bangkok. The promo and year round ‘Go’ fares are exclusive of regular surcharges and government tax.

Gokongwei also mentioned that the airline will open the new route in time for the Christmas holidays. “With our trademark low fares now available for the Manila-Bangkok route, we hope this will enable more Filipinos living in Thailand to come home and spend Christmas with their families and friends.”

Now in its 11th year, CEB has the newest fleet in the Philippines and one of the newest in Asia as it operates 12 brand new Airbus aircraft to its 20 domestic and 6 regional destinations. The airline awaits the delivery of two more Airbus aircraft in early 2007 to complete its $670 million re-fleeting program.
