Cebu Pacific now flying direct Manila-Jakarta

Cebu Pacific (CEB), the country’s low fare leader and leading domestic carrier inaugurates its maiden flight for its direct service from Manila to Jakarta, Indonesia today, January 31, 2007.

CEB’s Manila-Jakarta service is scheduled to operate every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The flight departs from Manila at 8:55pm and arrives in Jakarta at 11:45pm. The flight then leaves Jakarta at 12:30am the following day, to arrive back in Manila at 5:20am. The Jakarta-Manila service is scheduled to operate every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Jakarta, the capital and the largest city of Indonesia, is a major tourism and business hub in the region. CEB will be operating from the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

“We are very excited to be the only airline offering a direct service between Manila and Jakarta. Our load for the maiden flight is also quite encouraging at 90%. Hopefully, our year-round lowest fares will continue to encourage travel and tourism between the Philippines and Indonesia as this benefits the economies of both countries,” Candice Iyog CEB marketing director said.

The lowest ‘Go’ fare to Jakarta starts from P2,999 one-way. ‘Go’ fares are exclusive of surcharges and government tax. The best way to buy tickets is though CEB’s website (cebupacificair.com).

CEB is the only airline to offer direct flights to and from Jakarta with a flying time of only 3 hours and 50 minutes with no stopovers.

“We expect that the majority of the traffic to be business travelers to start with, but we are also anticipating a growing number of leisure travelers because of our low fares. As we operate our 7th international destination, we also hope to be able to serve and reach more Filipinos working overseas.” Iyog added.

Now in its 11th year, CEB operates 13 brand new Airbus aircraft with an average fleet age of less than a year, to its 20 domestic and seven international destinations. The airline’s $670 million re-fleeting program will be completed next month.
