Cebu Pacific completes aircraft re-fleeting program
Cebu Pacific (CEB), the Philippines’ low fare leader and leading domestic carrier will take delivery of its 14th brand-new Airbus A320 aircraft today from Toulouse, France.
Candice Iyog, CEB VP for Marketing and Product said that the arrival of this A320 marks the airline’s most significant milestone to date, the completion of its $670 million re-fleeting program. The very first delivery happened in May 2005.
“Our new fleet, which is one of the youngest in the world at less than 11 months old, supports the airline’s thrust to provide the lowest year-round fares,” Iyog said. She cited the aircraft’s high performance, which allows maximum aircraft utilization, as one of the contributors to CEB’s ability to offer low fares.
“With the completion of the re-fleeting program, we have effectively doubled our capacity. This means that we will be able to provide more low fares to every destination we serve,” Iyog explained. Currently, CEB has the most domestic destinations, routes and flights in the local aviation scene, and these are serviced by 10 A319s and 4 A320s.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to the country’s tourism agenda and we hope that, with our brand new fleet and our continued expansion in both domestic and international markets, we are able to bring air travel closer to more Filipinos because we believe that it’s time every Juan flies.” Iyog said.
Iyog added that in celebration of the completion of the re-fleeting program, CEB is holding a P 1.00 seat sale for its 20 domestic destinations, as well as Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta. The seat sale runs from March 2 to March 8, 2007, while the travel period is from June 1 to December 15, 2007.
