Cagayan de Oro

This peaceful and progressive city in Northern Mindanao is famous for its beautiful waterfalls, ancient caves, and sprawling pineapple plantations. Go on a white-water rafting adventure through the roaring Cagayan de Oro river or take easy day treks along nature trails. The eco-tourism village in Malasag showcases rare plants and animals as well as the ethnic arts of Philippine tribes.
The city is also the jumping point to Camiguin Island. With its evergreen forest, white sand bar, hot springs, an active volcano, and abundant marine life, it's a much-loved destination among divers, hikers, and eco-tourists.
Cagayan de Oro festivals include the Sakay-Sakay Lambago, an exciting boat race through Cagayan de Oro river, and the Kagay-An festival on August 28, a colorful celebration of the city's patron, St. Augustine. In Camiguin, watch out for the Lanzones Festival on the third week of October, where you get to eat as much of this sweet fruit as you can!
