Dumaguete

Although Dumaguete is the capital of Negros Oriental province, its feel is that of a tight-knit university town. It's home to Silliman University, one of the finest academic institutions in the Visayas. Within the campus are a marine laboratory, an ethno-anthropology museum, and the Luce Auditorium-the venue of many world-class cultural performances. Dumaguete also offers great shopping and nightlife.

Dumaguete is just a short ride away from Bais City, the jump-off point for a popular dolphin- and whale-watching boat expedition. It's also close to Apo Island, a marine sanctuary where the scuba diving is excellent.
