Laoag

Laoag, which means bright, is the jewel of Ilocandia.

Don’t miss the Cape Bojeador Lighthouse in Burgos, the country’s tallest lighthouse and the historical Aglipay Shrine, built in memory of the revolutionary Fr. Gregorio Aglipay, founder of the Filipino Independent Church. Delight in the age-old loom weaving of ethnic items in Paoay or visit nearby Vigan, replete with Spanish-Mexican-Chinese ancestral houses of massive hardwood floorings, ballustrades and azoteas.

Visit the Juan Luna Shrine, home to the famous artist’s “Spoliarium” masterpiece, the Baroque and Oriental inspired Paoay Church, listed in UNESCO’s World Heritage List and the Marcos Musuem and Mausoleum, ancestral home and final resting place of the late President Ferdinand Marcos.

Experience the colorful floral and dance parade of Pamulinawen festival every February in honor of St. William or slow down and behold the tranquil and pristine white Bangui-Pagudpud Beach.
