Tagbilaran

Tagbilaran is the capital of Bohol province. Originally a native settlement in the 1400s, it's the location of the historical blood compact between the first Spanish settlers and the natives. Today, watchtowers and many old churches with historical artifacts remain intact in Bohol.

Tagbilaran is an exciting tourist destination filled with natural wonders: The Chocolate Hills is series of over 1,000 small, perfectly shaped brown land formations. The peculiar Philippine tarsier-found only in Bohol and a few other places in the country-is one of the world's smallest primates; it can be cupped in the palm of your hand. You can also go bird, whale, and dolphin watching from Bohol , as well as travel to beaches and dive spots.

The yearly Sandugo festival, held during the whole month of July, is very close to the heart of Bohol. It's famous for being able to draw back Boholanos based abroad to take part in it. The street dancing competition between towns is intense, and the Miss Bohol Sandugo is a lavish beauty competition that includes production numbers, talent portions, and even text voting!
